Client type

I see individuals, couples and families for counseling sessions.

Location

I see clients in-person in my office in downtown Ann Arbor, MI or virtually. The office address is 202 E Washington Street Suite 200. It is located across the street from Literati bookstore and above Toastique (the gourmet toast and smoothie shop). Most clients park in the 4th and Washington Structure. This location is walkable from University of Michigan’s Central Campus. Find directions here

Session frequency, fees and insurance

Understanding the cost of therapy is an important topic and I want my clients to feel good about their investment which is why I provide more information here. My rates are competitive within the area and account for the quality of services I offer. You’ve chosen a provider who prioritizes continual advanced post-graduate education, consultation and training opportunities to offer you the best treatment. I hold certifications in several compassionate and effective counseling methods. This requires significant ongoing time and financial investment beyond undergraduate/graduate school investment. Additionally, I don’t take more clients than I can handle at a time. I structure my practice to avoid the burnout that's common in healthcare and helping professions—so I can bring my full attention and expertise to helping you achieve positive outcomes in therapy. My rate also allows me to cover the overhead costs of providing in-person therapy, including rent and utilities, which are quite high. I offer sliding scale rates and feel free to inquire to see if you qualify.

It is important to attend weekly sessions when starting out in order to not lose momentum in therapy (and to avoid spending more time/money in the end). Some clients move to biweekly sessions after a few months. Some clients stay weekly depending on their needs.

I do not bill insurance companies directly. The main reason for this is that Insurance companies pay in-network therapists low rates, which requires them to take more clients, take more time for admin work and therefore have less time/ attention devoted to each case. This is not how I want to structure my practice. I can provide a receipt for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company for individual sessions only, couples therapy is not a covered insurance benefit. If you do choose to involve your insurance company for my services, you will want to check if you can get out-of-network reimbursement for your sessions. Many clients can get reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits or by using an FSA or HSA account (this requires a mental health diagnosis to be placed in your file). It is the clients responsibility to check their plan allowances prior to session. All new clients not using insurance will receive a Good Faith Estimate. **Please note that couples therapy is not a covered insurance or HSA/FSA benefit.

My current fee for therapy and coaching is $170 per 60-minute individual session and $255 per 90-minute couples session.

Diversity, equity and inclusion

I honor and affirm intersectional identities of gender, ethnicity, race, sexuality and faith practices. I acknowledge ongoing systemic oppression and am committed to examining and challenging my own biases. I am committed to providing ongoing support to LGBTQ+ clients and practicing therapy from an anti-racist lens.
